You’re probably familiar with seeing images of the Earth from space that seem two-dimensional with respect to how flat the earth’s surface appears. I thought that this photo was unique when I viewed it, because it’s possible to actually see the height of the Earth’s atmosphere from an angle. This image was taken from Discovery during the STS-96 mission in 1999. Click here for the high-resolution, full size version.

David Hatcher Childress, a well known author who is sometimes said to be the real life Indiana Jones by many of his fans, discusses various topics in this 2 hour video series named “Childress” on YouTube. Mr. Childress discusses an article that was published in the Phoenix Gazette on Monday April 15, 1909, relating to a Smithsonian-sponsored expedition into the Grand Canyon to find Egyptian artifacts.
