Posts, Adding an Image
This section applies to adding an image (i.e., digital photograph) into either a Post or a Page. From this point forward, this article will use the term Post, but both Post and Page are implied.
WordPress offers one of the best methods for uploading images, managing images, and adding those images to Posts. A Post can be comprised of text alone, text and images (with images appearing in the normal text flow), or image(s) alone. This section will describe how to upload and image, and then insert the image into the Post content editor.
Uploading an Image
Before you can insert an image into a Post, you must upload it. With the Post editor displayed (while creating or editing a Post), scroll down to the image management panel. It is located directly below the content editor.

The Upload tab is initially selected. If an image has already been uploaded, you can browse for it in the Browse tab, and reuse the image, without needing to upload the image again.
There can be up to two additional tabs for browsing images that have already been uploaded.
To upload a new image, with the Upload tab selected, click the Browse button. A File Upload window will be displayed, which will allow you to browse for the image file to be uploaded.

Once you’ve located the image file to be uploaded in the File Upload window, highlight it and click the Open button. After clicking Open, the image file name will be shown in the File field.
Now type a Title. You can also type an optional Description.

Now click the Upload button
to upload the image. The image may take a few moments to upload, but when it has finished you will be presented with a thumbnail view of the image in the Browse tab.

There are several options that you can select before sending the image to the content editor.
- Show - Specifies the size of the image to be inserted into the editor. If the uploaded image is dimensionally large, select Thumbnail here and File for the Link to option below. You can also choose to insert the image Title text (and make it a link using the Link to option below)
- Link to – This specifies if the inserted Thumbnail, Full size image, or Title text should be linked to something, so that if clicked by a website visitor, the visitor will be taken to another location. Leaving this at File will mean that if a visitor clicks the inserted object, the full size version of the image will be displayed. This is useful (and advised) if Thumbnail or Title is selected in the Show option above. Setting this option to None means that nothing will happen if a visitor clicks the inserted Thumbnail, Full size image, or Title.
Once you’ve selected the desired options, click the Send to Editor button, and the image will be inserted into the editor at the current cursor position (so you will want to position the cursor in the editor before clicking the Send to editor button!).

Using the method above, images can be inserted into the Post content editor at any point in the text flow.
