Posts, A Closer Look
We’ve already discussed the difference between Posts and Pages, and talked briefly about the Write Post area of the Administration Panel. We will now cover the more intricate details of Post creation.
Creating and Publishing a Post, Simple Example
Sometimes a simple example is the most helpful, so let’s first create a new Post and publish it without doing anything complicated.
To create a new Post in the Administration Panel, click Write on the Main Menu. Write Post will already be selected on the Sub Menu.

Type a short text string in both the Title and Post content field.

Check the checkbox for one or more Categories in the Category list.

Finally, click Publish below the Post content field.

You’ve done it! You’ve created and published your first Post! Though many options exist for creating and formatting Posts, you’ve just used the basics.
Assigning Posts to Categories
The Categories to which a Post is assigned will decide where the Post will display on your website.
For example, your website home page might have a left and right column, and if so Briel Computer may have assigned one or more Category names to each of these columns.
Categories assigned to the home page left column could be:
- home-left-1
- home-left-2
- home-left-3
And to the home page right column:
- home-right-1
- home-right-2
- home-right-3
To cause a Post the be displayed at the top of the left column on the home page, you would assign it to the home-left-1 Category. Posts assigned to the home-left-2 Category will display below posts assigned to home-left-1, and so on. If multiple Posts are assigned to the same Category, they will be displayed newest on top.
Briel Computer will provide you with a list of predefined Categories with their mappings to specific areas of the website.

Using this list of assignments, assigning a Post to a given block on the website is as simple as selecting a Category checkbox when editing the Post.
