Acting as animated as ever during his recent Meet the Press interview, Clinton campaign co-chair Terry McAuliffe insinuated on Sunday that host Tim Russert’s father was dead. He isn’t. “But it’s not impossible for Hillary Clinton to win,” said McAuliffe. “A lot of people have said that. Big Russ, if he were sitting here today — nothing’s impossible. Jack McAuliffe, if they were with us today, they’re probably both in heaven right now Tim, probably having a scotch, looking down saying, you know what: this fight goes on. It’s good for the Democratic Party. Millions of people coming out to vote, it’s exciting.” Not missing a beat, Russert quickly corrected his always genial guest. “Big Russ is in the Barcalounger still watching this,” he said. “God bless him.” Watch the video.

The Atlantic.com website reports that although the Obama campaign calls its “Vote for Change” voter registration drive a mere voter registration drive (i.e., Nothing to see here, folks, except for ordinary people helping ordinary people gain the franchise), it’s much more than that. Obama’s Vote for Change program will lay the foundation for his general election get-out-the-vote efforts, according to the Atlantic. Obama aides won’t say more, but I gather the campaign is constructing an incredibly elaborate online interface to allow its more than a million donors and volunteers to directly persuade their neighbors through a variety of media. On election day, the Obama camp might have more than a million individuals volunteering on his behalf. That should scare the beejeesus out of the McCain campaign and the RNC. Which of these two scenarios is more likely? A.) The US, and it’s past foreign policy toward Arabs in this world is at least partly responsible for what happened on Sept 11, 2001, or B.) the Catholic Church is who is characterized by the “great whore” of the Book of Revelation?

If you believe that option A is possible, then you agree with Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. If you can stomach option B, then you agree with Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s pastor, the Rev. John Hagee.

Don’t think I need to suggest that option B is going to be repulsive to Catholics.

Option A is may not be politically correct to ask, but consider the fact that President Bush may currently be angering a whole new generation of Arabs, with 1+ million innocent deaths (by some estimates) as a result of the Iraq war.

If John McCain’s pastor, Rev. John Hagee, stated what he did about the Catholic Church, even connecting them to Adolf Hitler, why can’t I find one single article on the CNN Politics page as of 5/4/2008 1:02 PM EST that addresses Rev. Hagee’s position, or questions John McCain’s affiliation with Rev. Hagee, or finds John McCain guilty by association w/ Rev. Hagee? Read this morning’s the NY Times article here describing Rev. I watched the Arianna Huffington interview on Charlie Rose a few days ago. You really have to love Charlie Rose and the intellectual integrity he represents amidst a sea of Jerry Springer-like, sensational and biased news media here in the US. Here’s a question for you: click here and then here and let know how long it takes you to tell the difference? Compare to this, and you’re task becomes more difficult yet. I frequent HuffingtonPost.com as well as BBCnews.com, to escape the 24-7 Rev Wright, kindergarten siege of mainstream US news coverage.

Most people who’ve been alive more than 10 minutes know what an extreme makeover the Hillary Clinton that stands before voters today is compared to what she was even a few months ago, making it hard to tell who the real Clinton is. As a matter of fact, if you don’t like Hillary Clinton, wait 5 minutes.

Here’s a good example for the people of Indiana. Hillary Clinton now says that what is obviously being said about the people of Indiana in this 1992 Bill Clinton campaign documentary, War Room, wasn’t said at all, or was somehow ‘doctored’ into the tape. Judge for yourself. Right around the 4:40 time marker, listen to what then campaign official, now supporter, Mickey Kantor had to say about the people of Indiana. Click here to watch.

CNN reports in a new poll by CNN/Opinion Research Corp that the current president, George W. Bush, is the most unpopular president in modern American history. The poll indicates that 71 percent of Americans disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president. “No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president’s disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark,” said Keating Holland, CNN’s polling director. CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider adds, “He is more unpopular than Richard Nixon was just before he resigned from the presidency in August 1974.” President Nixon’s disapproval rating in August 1974 stood at 66 percent. Every time I pay for gas for my vehicle, I picture Bush shrugging his shoulders, saying “the oil company profits are perfectly normal in this market.” Maybe this means more Obamicans?

Time has just named its 100 most influential people in the world in 2008. #1 in the list is Shigeru Miyamoto. Before clicking here, do you have any idea who the heck this guy is?
